Oh December how you’re creeping up on us ever so quickly! We’ve got Xmas dinners, drinks & get togethers coming out our ears, accompanied with that dreaded feeling of having nothing to wear. (Yes we feel like that too – often!) In fact, ’tis the season when we feel that adding a pair of heels to our polo neck & jeans combo just doesn’t quite cut it, especially when one of us (Philippa!) has a bun in the oven 🙂 Finally we can share with you the exciting news!!!
As you know, we love nothing more than a laid back approach to going out, often a smart top with our denims or culottes is our go to look, but we’ve been leaning towards dresses a lot more recently – who would of thought?! First we wear pink & now frocks – who are we?! Plus there’s something quite fun about slipping into a dress after work to go & do something festive.
It’s no surprise to find out that we’ve been hitting the high street to find our dressy wares and as always Topshop has come out trumps. It’s one of those places that does party dressing so well, it’s got the separates we all crave but with a selection of party dresses that we can vouch has something for everyone. Case in point…US! We are both VERY fussy when it comes to dress buying; Sarah doesn’t do short – so that rules out about half the dresses on the high street before we even start (!) and Philippa with an expanding tummy bump (!) doesn’t feel like wearing anything too tight; it’s that early stage of not wanting to wear a tent but equally wearing something tight doesn’t quite feel right yet, so it was no easy task finding our party frock! That was until we found this pretty perfect Topshop dress (here & here) It’s waisted at the middle, midi in length and with flattering floaty cut out shoulders to add a bit of va va voom. It’s literally the perfect dress for anyone (pregnant, not pregnant & everything in between) and lo and behold it comes in two colour ways, happy days!
With our new dresses in mind we headed to The Kensington Hotel for a quick tipple (water obvs for P) and a girlie evening on the town, see how we wore ours below:
Philippa’s wearing:
