LONDON STAYCATION

LONDON STAYCATION
You may have seen from our social media that we went for a real treat last weekend; a little staycation…in our home town, London. For those of you that think holidaying in London seems a little strange when we both actually live here, we can in fact prove you wrong! Being tourists in our own city felt like such a treat; seeing as we both live & work in London’s fast paced, non-stop, concrete jungle, it’s very rare that we’re able to take it all in and enjoy our incredible city and what it has to offer.
Our destination…Regent Street, one of our favourite streets in the city with so much to do, see, eat & shop! We spent the weekend enjoying everything on offer from crazy cocktails served in a treasure chests to the blow dry that rivalled all blow drys!

THE PLACE TO STAY

Who doesn’t love staying in a hotel?! It’s the biggest treat of all for us (Sarah’s got a thing for crisp white hotel bed linen and Philippa loves nothing more than a breakfast buffet!) and The Langham offered exactly that and way more. With The Langham being the only hotel actually on Regent Street, it seemed like the perfect base for our dreamy weekend. The hotel was recently refurbished (we were crushing over the marble lobby!) and although it’s quite a large hotel it felt so homely & friendly. The moment we arrived we felt immediately at home – the staff couldn’t do enough for us and we were settled in within minutes.

THE ULTIMATE SATURDAY LUNCH

We’d heard about Heddon Street Kitchen for a while but for some reason neither of us had made our way there; until last weekend. Between the two of use we’ve tried our fair share of new & upcoming hot spots, but we’ve got to tell you- Heddon Street Kitchen is a must and now definitely topping our list of best restaurants in London. We loved it’s relaxed atmosphere, varied & super tasty menu and just scroll down to see what’s on offer for the best course…dessert!

Acting like kids again!
WHERE TO SHOP

The best part of any city break… shopping! Monday to Friday you can usually spot the two of us marching up & down Regent Street on work appointments, but to be able to casually stroll and mooch in & out of the shops during this blissful weekend was a major treat (not so much for the boys though!) Regent Street really does have the best selection of fail-safe stores that we love shopping in. From J.Crew, Massimo Dutti, Cos & H&M (just to name a few!) we always know we’re going to get lucky with what’s on offer to shop along Regent Street.

Some serious home decor inspo in J.Crew!

We may have fallen in love with this J Crew cross body bag…

Back to base to get ready for our spa treatments 🙂

THE LUXE SPA

After our big feast at Heddon Street Kitchen and then walking it off whilst strolling in & out of the shops, we were well & truly ready for some R&R. Isn’t it the best feeling getting wrapped up in fluffy hotel robes ready for your treatment?! The Chuan Spa inside The Langham is one of the best retreat spas in London. From the moment we glided in with our robes & slippers on we were ushered to the relaxation room where we instantly knew we were in for a treat ahead of our massage.
*You’ll have to excuse the lack of photo’s in this section – we were obviously too zenned out to remember to snap!*

THE MUST-HAVE BLOW DRY

Now, if you haven’t been to DryBy London then take it from us, you need to go! We’ve got to be honest, this was actually our first experience (although the fash pack have been raving about it for a while!) and now we’re totally & utterly obsessed. DryBy is big news in the US and we could totally see why from the moment we walked in. The Salon has an effortlessly cool vibe; at atmosphere we hadn’t experienced from a hairdressing salon before and we knew we would love the whole experience from the moment we walked in…

Ladies – you need to try “the London” blow-dry! The most perfect messy waves that were still in tact three days later!
DATE NIGHT DINNER

When it came to restaurant choice on Regent Street and the surrounding roads, there’s a lot to choose from. For us, being huge sushi and pan Asian foody fans, Aqua Kyoto was the only destination. With a cocktail menu to die for and the most epic menu we were not disappointed. We dined on lobster rolls, black cod and the best salmon sashimi we’ve ever tasted! There was a great vibe in the restaurant as well and although it was a little cold to sit on the outside terrace we will definitely be back in the summer to sample the rest of the cocktail menu 🙂
It was so fun to get dressed up with our hubs and let our hair down -it’s been a while!

THE DELUXE SUNDAY BRUNCH

As you may know from our Instagram, brunch is our all time favourite meal. Again we are very lucky that we have tried a fair few around London but there was one place still on our wishlist…the newly opened Thomas’s at the Burberry store on Regent Street. As well as the dreamy surroundings that got us wanting to shop to our hearts content (we managed to reign it in!) the huge bright restaurant and marble decor was the perfect setting for a luxe brunch. Of course we couldn’t break a habit of a lifetime and it was avo & eggs on toast that got our vote, BUT, we also managed to find room for a cheeky side of pancakes as well. All we can say is YUM! It was the perfect setting for a laidback Sunday brunch and we will definitely be going back soon.

THE EXQUISITE AFTERNOON TEA

We actually haven’t been to many teas in London and we were so excited to be able to experience champagne tea at the Palm Court at The Langham Hotel. It’s one of the most iconic teas in the city and believe us when we say it was pretty epic. Whilst we sipped on our favourite earl grey teas (a new obsession!) we ate everything from unlimited cucumber sandwiches (why do they taste so good?!) scones (with and without raisins!), cakes and biscuits. By the end of it we were seriously stuffed!

Can you tell how hungover we are in this selfie?!

Egg mayo with truffle…yum!!

As you can see, we ate like kings & queens this weekend and the champagne tea was the perfect way to finish it all off!
Home time 🙁

Can you believe how much we fitted in in just two days?! We truly had the best weekend; even just one night away gave us time to relax, chill and spend time with our gorgeous husbands. We can honestly say we left feeling utterly rejuvenated – just what we needed after a hectic few weeks.

Thank you to Regent Street for having us x
