THE DENIM EDIT 2019

THE DENIM EDIT 2019

This is most definitely one of our most asked questions…what are the best jeans in the shops now?! Jeans shopping is a minefield & can often leave you in a changing room with 15 pairs on the floor all of which you hate! There is so much choice it’s almost overwhelming – where do you even start? So, we’ve done all the hard work for you & rounded up our denim edit of 2019 with all the styling tips galore. Keep scrolling for all the key shapes, where to shop them & of course how to rock them.

First up the easy to wear, wear it anywhere skinny jean. These should be tight all the way down to the ankle with a good amount of stretch, non stretch skinnies aren’t the way forward, save that for the straight styles! Our top tip, make them higher rise and they will pull you in in all the right places (especially if you have any hint of a mum tum!) We love them in a mid blue wash with a frayed hem to boot (why is it that we always feel a bit ‘cooler’ in a frayed hem?!) Also if you’re conscious of your thighs, a darker more indigo denim is always going to be the most flattering. We love distressed styles for a more casual weekend look.

We would say this is our go to shape of choice, perfect for tucking in a shirt or jumper & of course wearing with our all time favourite blazer & tee combo. The silhouette of these is straight down the leg from the hip to the ankle & are best worn slightly cropped at the ankle. Try opting for a shorter leg length in these to get the look or even get a bit creative by chopping off the hems if they are a bit on the long side. These look best worn higher on the waist and with a heel if you’re dressing them up a bit. Top tip -make sure they are a rigid denim, they won’t have stretch but will definitely give so they should be snug fitting when you buy them.

Most definitely the most trend led denim piece of SS19, the boiler suit is very much having a moment right now & before you say it, there IS a shape out there for everyone. Choose from dungaree styles to full on handyman chic with a boiler suit, these are seriously versatile & are making their way as a key piece for the season. Make sure you’re belted in at the middle as this will help show off that waist & keep things feminine.

These are a must have for any wardrobe, the comfiest shape and the perfect dressed down piece for any occasion. Whilst you don’t want a balloon style shape as these can add inches where you don’t want them, a slim boyfriend style with a rip here or there is the best & most stylish way to do it. Again look for a shorter length at the ankle which gives you the choice to wear trains, boots or even a heel.
